it’s no lie that i’ve become like 100% obsessed with dexter (and by extension the wonder that is michael c. hall), but i have to say, these short short (comparatively) seasons on “premium cable” vs. the longer, drawn-out seasons (and shorter episodes) of regular television are really getting to me because now it seems like it’s FOREVER until we get another season of dexter.
of course, regular television usually holds no appeal to me whatsoever. or television in general. we don’t even have premium cable, but i make sure i always see dexter. even if it isn’t during it’s regularly scheduled time slot.
really all these shows in season bunches are keeping me from having to either a.) deal with bullshit television and commercials (ew) and b.) buying even more dvds than i already currently own.
plus, i’ve started reading dexter books (don’t you judge me!) and so far i like them. i’ll need to get my hands on more of them once i’ve plowed through all the sookie stackhouse books.

so…tonight marks not only the start of a new year but the start of a new decade, which hadn’t really hit me until oh…20 minutes ago, i guess?
i never put much stock into new years celebrations and retrospectives, so i was definitely caught off guard. and then i realized…holy shit a decade.
and what do i have to show for it, really?

there is really nothing, nothing on this earth that neil patrick harris is involved in that i do not love.
really.
it’s like, a physical impossibility.

so there were off-beat christmas songs and cookies and trimming the tree…which is, not a real tree. it’s a fakey job i bought at target years ago. but, it does the job and looks halfway decent enough when all is said and done. i’ve actually never had a real christmas tree. ever.
have seen them before, but especially in our tiny apartment i don’t feel like all the mess and hassle would be worth it, you know? plus, i like our little tree.
i’ve changed it up a bit this year by incorporating some of our dia de los muertos ornaments, and i got rid of the cumbersome, stupid tree topper and replaced it with a mini sombrero from our mexico trip.
makes the tree more ours, i think. if that makes sense?

i was lucky enough to have a three-day weekend this week, and oh my god did i totally NEED it like you wouldn’t believe. i know, i know, just went to mexico, shouldn’t complain…but the world finds ways to totally shit on me and god damnit i needed a break. thus, weekend of unending AWESOME.
in fact, it started early (on thursday) with a fancy outing to cuchi cuchi for tasty dinner and cocktails. the boy had never been before, and i’ve only been a handful of times so it was super exciting. also: DELICIOUS.
