oh yeah, it’s fuckin’ SHARK WEEK, yo! which, actually started on sunday, but we were busy rocking out and such, so there’s a bit of a delay.
the shark of the day is: greenland shark (Somniosus microcephalus)
size: 21-24 ft. long / up to 2200 lbx.
habitat: depths of the northern atlantic waters, near greenland and iceland
prey: fish, seals, the occasional reindeer or polar bear (NOT CONSIDERED DANGEROUS TO HUMANS)
fun facts: the greenland shark is virtually blind, as parasites attach themselves to the shark’s corneas and eat the tissue. there are reports of greenland sharks being able to detect light, however. also, their flesh is toxic to everything but other greenland sharks. sometimes they go cannibal on each other. their lifespan may be as long as 200 years! that is mind-blowing.

yesterday it was homemade pizza:
- chicken, mushrooms, fresh spinach, gorgonzola, olives & mozzerella on a garlic cream sauce with fresh rosemary
- sausage, mushrooms, red/orange/yellow bell peppers, fresh basil, hearty tomato sauce with mozzerella and parmesan
plus the glaze for my dulce de leché cheesecake squares. plus old fashioned strawberry shortcake from scratch.
today it’s homemade rosemary focaccia, grilled chicken pressed sandwiches on said focaccia with fresh farm market lettuce and sundried tomato pesto. garlic sautéd broccolini on the side, and homemade strawberry poptarts made from the tiny super sweet farm market berries i got.
seriously, i need a bigger fuckin kitchen.

aka “spring has been sprung in this motherfucker”
so over the weekend the boy and i hit up old navy two times. that’s right, twice. why? because i was flip-flopsy on a really cute dress and took an overnighter to figure out that yes, god yes, i really do want that dress, now!.
overall the damage was:
- 1 really pretty long dress (blue ombre)
- 2 short, fun summer dresses (bright blue and patterned with blue)
- 1 strappy sundress (orange with bright floral)
- 1 strappy jersey sundress (navy blue)
- 1 pair of cargo pants (slate blue)
- really awesome, comfy hoody for the boy (grey with audio tape pattern)
- pants for the boy (some sort of grey)
yes, i am ready for spring and all the cute clothes that go with it. for serious. and maybe, just maybe, i have a severe fondness for all things blue.
